Department of Periodontology

Periodontology covers the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the tissues surrounding the teeth such as gums and bones, and maintaining the health and function of these tissues.  Thanks to the clinical internships carried out in the 4th and 5th years of the dentistry studies, our students gain a lot of experience in the field such as dentist-patient relations, observe these tissues in transition from health to disease, and begin their professional lives as dentists endowed with theoretical knowledge and the experience in preclinical studies. Moreover, to prevent gingival diseases, the Department provides information about preventive medicine for the patients who present to us and therefore contributes to community oral health.

As well as teaching and conducting clinical studies, our faculty members at the Department of Periodontology also contribute to the scientific literature thanks to their scientific studies. Our faculty members offer treatment with cutting-edge technology to patients suffering from gingival diseases.

As well as educating competent prospective dentists who are equipped with the most up-to-date knowledge and human values, we aim to offer oral health services to society within the framework of modern, scientific, and ethical values.
